A sneak peek of this exciting new project, which opened on the 30th June 2022, reveals that this newly revamped lifestyle hotel and Swiss hot spot that has previously been visited by the likes of Rihanna, Freddy Mercury, Grace Jones and Muhammad Ali as regular guests, overlooks the city center from Zurich's stunning Uetliberg plateau and will offer 149 rooms and 87 stunning contemporary suites as well as several award-winning culinary concepts centered around FIVE's hallmark musical stylings. The new FIVE hotel in Zurich will seamlessly unite the very best of Swiss hospitality with FIVE's characteristic flair for an exceptionally indulgent experience for guests from the city and international visitors alike.

As Junior Sommelier you will join a committed F&B team driven with the intent of delivering 'FIVE-star' guest experiences to an international diaspora.

As our ideal candidate, you have proven experience in a highly active environment. Your organisational, communication, and leadership skills are second to none and you enjoy developing solutions that push groundbreaking boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with their choice of wine or drink and take the appropriate orders.
  • Ensure that the proper mise-en-place is prepared for each meal service.
  • Organize, supervise and assist with the service of beverages.
  • Ensure correct handling, use, storage and cleaning of all liquor service equipment.
  • Ensure that a tight control is kept on all stock used, all checks are raised and processed correctly and are either paid or charged to account.
  • Develop and maintain all wine-related staff training programs.
  • Liaise and coordinate with wine purveyors for wine updates, training and promotions.
  • Work with Culinary team to devise harmonious food & wine pairings for menu updates.
  • Develop budget plan and record, monitor and present a clear Sales Mix Record.
  • Maintain updated Wine List while liaising with Restaurant manager and Director of F&B.
  • Work on special projects to strengthen the Hotel's position as a market leader in wine.
  • Responsible for roster and attendance records for the sommelier team.
  • Ensure that all sommeliers are aware of and comply with Licensing Laws.
  • Regularly inspect quality of opened wine in all F&B Outlets.
  • Manage restaurant operations in the absence of Restaurant Managers.
  • Be knowledgeable of hotel information to be able to answer any guest queries.

What We're Looking For
  • A hands-on approach with a 'can-do' spirit
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Luxury Hotel and WSET Certificate is an asset
  • Computer literacy a must, with a strong knowledge of Word, Excel, & Outlook.
  • Experienced in all aspects of restaurant service and management
  • Deep wine and food knowledge and expertise
  • Must be highly organized and energetic and possess the ability to get the job done.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Swiss work permit holder or EU ID / Passport holder
  • Dynamic, energetic, creative and thrives under pressure.
  • The ability to manage and drive a highly dynamic operation
  • A continually creative and innovative personality
