Executive Chef - Leading Luxury Boutique Hotel, Nigeria

Our client operates one of the premier luxury boutique Hotels in West Africa and is currently looking for a dynamic, young creative Executive Chef to take their culinary product to new levels. The property offers 70 luxury rooms, two F&B outlets including a fine dining restaurant and several meeting rooms with a maximum capacity for 60 guests. The ideal candidate will have the ability and flair to create new and exciting meal experiences combining local cuisine with new world trends – the client wants to move away from the traditional buffet fare so frequently found in the region and offer on trend, edgy cuisine which will be something new and not seen before in this gateway city. The client will also consider a suitably qualified, strong Executive Sous Chef who is looking for their first exciting Executive Chef role.

Key attributes for the role:

  • Ideally, candidates must have worked previously in Sub Saharan Africa. Candidates with a wide varied international background will also have a distinct advantage.
  • The region brings certain operational challenges so it would be advantageous if candidates have prior hardship or remote experience with excellent logistical skills
  • The role requires a safe pair of hands and an individual who leads the team from the front on the floor. This is definitely not an office bound role !
  • He/she must be able to manage a diverse multi-cultural team with sensitivity and efficiency
  • The client is looking for someone who still enjoys cooking and brings flair and creativity to the kitchen while still having fun doing so
  • A solid all round background is required with formal qualifications, eg City & Guilds or equivalent, and the ability to train and mentor the brigade.
  • The role is a high profile one so candidates must be prepared to interact with the high end clientele and possess excellent guest contact skills – fluent English is a must
  • A sound business acumen is required with a good knowledge of budgeting and controls - candidates must ideally be familiar working with Micros Materials Control.
  • A stable track record is required with at least three years experience in a similar role in the luxury segment – preference will be given to candidates who have worked in establishments of 100 rooms or less.
  • Candidates must be HACCP trained and be able to maintain the highest standards of food hygiene at all times


Salary of US$3,500 net per month

Work permit requirements stipulate that candidates must hold a Yellow Fever vaccination as well as be fully vaccinated against Covid 19
