Director of Engineering

Job Summary

As an Director of Engineering, you are responsible on all matters related to the repairs and maintenance operation of the physical plant and engineering facilities within the company and maintain all mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment including heating and ventilation. In addition, overlook the day-to-day operation of the department together with associated tasks and duties as assigned.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize and set up preventive maintenance programmed for all electrical and mechanical equipment including general building works
  • Monitor budget and control expenses within all areas of the department. Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and Capital plans which support the overall objectives of the company.
  • Work with corporate procurement director, engineers and/or outside architects regarding renovations and other such projects; contact contractors for bids and meet with appropriate construction supervisors to ensure timely completion of projects within budget and establish future maintenance commitments
  • Drives technical solutions, provides leadership and direction to project management teams/managers, responsible for development and execution of project scope, cost, and schedule from concept to initial production of multi-discipline capital programs for the company.
  • Directs and deploys the managerial and technical leadership necessary to provide the highest project management effectiveness to support the company’s plans.
  • Monitor the budget and control expenses within all areas of the department of the company. Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and Capital plans which support the overall objectives of the company.
  • Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues – recognize good performance
  • Oversee the physical operations of the company, including maintenance and repair of interior and exterior of buildings, rooms and contents, laundry and kitchen/refrigeration equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, and water treatment systems, and swimming pool-if applicable, etc.
  • Ensure proper completion of the Preventive Maintenance Program for rooms, public areas, and safety systems while working closely with the Rooms Division, Food & Beverage Department, Security, purchasing and other operational departments.
  • Establish and maintain procedures to (1) ensure the security of inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc., (2) replenish supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner, and (3) to minimize waste.
  • Oversee the physical operations of the company, including maintenance and repair and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimizing waste and maintaining “green” initiatives
  • Supervise and liaise with all contractors, write specifications for all electrical, mechanical, and associated building works complying with the local government regulations and inspect and sign for contractor works upon satisfactory completion
  • Oversee the general maintenance of all life safety systems throughout the company and report any major defects
  • Ensure that all administration files are kept up to date including drawing prints, specifications and equipment, technical maintenance manuals, etc.
  • Recommend and evaluate energy conservation programmed and ensure they are carried out as well as investigate the wastage
  • Operate in a safe and environmentally friendly way to protect guests’ and employees’ health and safety, as well as protect and conserve the environment.
  • Comply with the company environmental, health and safety policies and procedures
  • Advise the Managing Director for necessary precautionary measures related to building and maintenance systems.
