JOB ROLE

To promotes coffee culture by recommending and selling coffee, actively educating customers, preparing and serving a variety of coffee brews along with pastries, cookies and other menu items.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

·Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs and educates them by presenting and explaining the coffee drinks in the menu while answering questions.

·Sells coffee by explaining differences in coffee beans, preparation methods while demonstrating how brewing equipment operates.

·Prepares serves and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks.

·Recommends coffee promotions with new coffee brews.

·Attracts new customer to create customer loyalty and increase revenues.

·Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee beans supply, stocking brewing equipment, maintaining other supplies, pastries, cookies, syrups, etc.

·Keeps equipment clean and operating by following operating and cleaning instructions and SOP, troubleshoots breakdowns, maintains cleaning supplies, organizes and performs preventative maintenance, calls for maintenance and keeps a record for equipment assigned to the outlet.

·Maintains a safe and healthy working environment by following all company health & safety policies and procedures.

·Improves quality results by studying, evaluating and re-designing processes; implements changes; maintains and improves the appearance of the barista stations and displays.

·Updates job and product knowledge by participating in training opportunities; reading coffee, beverage and food service and product publications while maintaining a network of customers.

·Enhances coffee culture and reputation of the outlet by taking ownership of the business and being pro-active in accomplishing existing and new/different tasks while exploring opportunities to add value to the business.

·Cleans and sanitizes work surfaces, equipment and utensils.

·Take all reasonable measures not to handle food or food contact surfaces in any way that is likely to compromise the safety and suitability of the food

·Communicates customer feedback to line manager.

·Develops promotions related to coffee culture and drives up selling of relevant F&B items.

·Maintains prompt and friendly customer service.

·Listens to customer complaints and queries and addresses their concerns in an efficient yet friendly manner while reporting it to line manager without delay.

·Trains other colleagues in barista knowledge and techniques.

·Does competitor surveys and analyzes products and services with assigned outlet.

·In addition to taking orders from customers and preparing their drinks, a barista may also be required to deal with other matters at hand in one go. Depending on the place of work, one may be required to carry out all-round tasks for the assigned outlet for example helping in stock control and cleaning tables.

·Reporting potential health and safety hazards to line manager without delay.

REQUIREMENTS

·Minimum 1 year of working experience in the same role in a 5-star hotel operation or high-volume stand-alone outlets and hands-on experience in Operating different types of coffee machines.

·High School or equivalent. GED or Vocational education.

·Food Hygiene – BASIC, HACCP Awareness – BASIC

·Food safety and food hygiene specified by the standards/legislation
