Job Brief

The Assistant Sommelier is responsible to assist the Outlet Sommelier in supervising the day-to-day operation of the hotel's wine stock.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supervises the day to day operation of all hotel's wine stock
  • Maintain quality standards in conformity to Constance Hotels corporate identity, as defined in the operating manual.
  • Make sure that the wine list is of the highest possible international standard by ensuring a professional and personalized service and a constant variety of all styles and prices of wines in line with world trends.
  • Produces all wine orders
  • Produce a monthly sales analysis on all wine along with Outlet Sommelier
  • Supervises the day to day operation of all hotel's wine stock
  • Make sure that all material and equipment made available for wine service is correctly used and participates in inventory taking.
  • To be able to manage the wine service in the different outlets and to have product knowledge in wine and also other alcoholic beverages such as cocktails, beers and spirits.
  • To guide guests in their choice of wine to accompany their food and to advice them on any other accompaniments to a meal such as classic aperitifs, cocktails, cigars, digestives as well as liqueurs.
  • To work closely with the Head Sommelier to compile the wine list.

Candidate Requirements :

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience as Commis Sommelier
  • Knowledge of the different wines
  • The level of service given while focusing intensely on the guest satisfaction
  • Effective communication skills and pleasant personality are a must.
  • Possession of superior interactive skills is essential.
  • Be fully conversant with all health and safety and hygiene procedures
