Assistant Greenkeeping Manager

Job Brief

Supervision of the Green-keeping team , directs and participates in the golf course activities.

Job Summary

  • Assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining golf course properties, which may include:
  1. The golf courses
  2. Maintenance equipment
  3. The golf irrigation system
  4. Golf course landscaping
  5. Open spaces, wooded areas, unused acreage
  6. Sod farm and nursery
  7. Other properties as specified in writing by the superintendent's supervisor
  8. Assist in the supervision of the construction and maintenance of the golf course
  • Assist in the supervision of the maintenance and repair of construction and maintenance equipment
  • Supervise the operation, maintenance and repair of motorized and mechanical equipment.
  • Assists in the planning of maintenance and project work on putting greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and rough and related areas.
  • Instruct equipment operators, in the safe, efficient operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
  • Ensure Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policy are met
  • Ensure and maintain that Health and Safety practices are followed at all times
  • Proper use of chemicals, pesticides, materials and supplies.
  • Adhere to fire alarm or any emergency statutory procedures in the event of fire.
  • Promote Energy efficiency and environment and identify improvement to support the Green Globe Policy.
  • Ensure that any breakdown of equipment and services are immediately reported and dealt with swiftly and efficiently.
  • Ensure that in the context of the operations, all standards of management for the environment and its related legislation are strictly observed.
  • Through proper communication ensure that staff members have all the information they require in order to provide excellent service at all times.
  • Ensure that both golf greenkeeping has the appropriate staffing levels for efficient operations while achieving set employee productivity targets.
  • Constantly monitor staff morale to ensure that the personnel is kept in an appropriate state of discipline, motivation and commitment to the objectives of the organization at all times.
  • Ensure that the staff receive appropriate and adequate training, supervision and assistance in order to achieve the desirable level of performance
  • Regularly appraise his immediate collaborators in order to feedback to them essential information to enable them to constantly improve their performance.
  • Compile staff duty roasters and arranging staff holidays as per the hotel’s level of occupancy
  • Keep records of staff hours of duty, absenteeism and sickness.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Diploma/ degree in Horticulture /Agriculture or related major
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Greenkeeping/Landscaping Supervisor/Assistant Manager
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Healthy and well maintained appearance and proper grooming.
  • Be fully conversant with all health and safety and hygiene procedures.
  • Have excellent communication and leadership skills.
