Assistant Finance Manager - Germany (m/w/*)

Your role will be to be responsible for the day-to-day deliverables of the finance department of the German operations. You will supervise the accounting and controlling of several subsidiaries owned and managed by our client and the real estate funds financing student accommodation projects. Projects will include operational business units and sites under construction.

As the group is still in a sort of start-up-phase you are hands - on, and able to perform accounting tasks and provide training on practical accounting to finance team members.

The Assistant Finance Manager provides timely and accurate information to all relevant stakeholders such as banks and other debt providers, the senior management and local authorities and works together with the local management team to drive performance of the student accommodations within his/her region. He/she engages in financial analysis in areas such as forecasting, budgeting, cost reduction analysis and reviewing operational performance.
Main Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operations of the finance department
• Lead, coach, and mentor individual team members to support personal growth
• Engage in the review of business processes and propose process improvements, monitor processes for continued relevance
• Provide day-to-day review of team members professional performance and provide timely feedback for their improvement, personal development
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Under the supervision of the regional Director of Finance responsibility for financial month end, quarter end and year end reporting of all German projects and operating entities within communicated deadlines and in excellent quality.
• Business partner with managers and department heads of all entities during the preparation of operational budgets and forecasts

• 5+ years of working experience in finance & accounting in Germany
• Real Estate Management or hospitality background
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
• CPA or CMA qualification preferred
• IFRS proficiency preferred
• Capacity to lead effectively both horizontally and vertically.
• Self-Starter and ability to quickly adapt while working autonomously within a fast-paced dynamic work environment
• Ability to successfully navigate and communicate within a complex matrix organisational structure
• Strong leadership skills with ability to perform tactically with a range of business partners and comfortable with senior level presentations
• Productive collaborator, delegator, and team player
• Impeccable and concise communication and presentation skills, verbal and written
• Interest in new and innovative technology designed to optimise business processes
• Open to feedback, with optimistic and positive attitude
• Strong management skills and demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines
• Open to regular travel across EU
• Fluency in German as well as English language (both verbally and in writing), other European languages would be a plus.
