Department

Housekeeping



Job Description

To achieve and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and performance of Housekeeping associates within the department in relation to the company and the guest.

Key Responsibilities:

Check public areas, guest rooms, corridors as well as back of the house areas daily

Report and coordinate with Engineering for any requirements for any area within the hotel

Conduct daily supervisory briefings and monthly communication associate meetings

Institute any system necessary for an effective communication flow, e.g. hand over and key log book; ensure that guest preferences are consistently captured and followed up upon

Facilitate regular job chats and performance reviews with all team members, at a minimum twice a year

Ensure adequate par stock levels for cleaning supplies and equipment
Oversee and ensure accurate documentation for lost property and distribution for unclaimed items as per policy and procedures
Ensure implementation of cleaning programs such as the ABCs of Housekeeping and ABCs Every Day

Monitor and drive cleanliness score/performance with the help of tools, such as guestVoice

Oversee that Sheraton Brand Standards as well as local SOPs are applied at all times

Ensure regular spring-cleaning program is implemented in line with occupancy levels; at the same time a calendar with daily, weekly and monthly focus points is to be maintained

Oversee the ordering of floral arrangements for public areas and guest rooms

Review the standards of décor, layouts of furniture and equipment; prepare recommendations for improvement

Attend to any invoices received and approve departmental purchases
Ensure adequate staffing levels are kept throughout the department and scheduling of vacation is during low occupancy and geared to the ever-changing volume of business

Maximize departmental productivity and performance by effectively using REX, including the system’s reporting capabilities

Ensure all fire and safety precautions are observed and those first aid procedures are to the standard required by the company incorporating any legal requirements

Apply the company security procedures including the use of handling keys or reporting suspicious incidents to the Security or Hotel Manager

Oversee all laundry and dry-cleaning operations while maximizing efficiency and ensuring a ready supply of linen is always available for Rooms and F&B

Spot check and ensure the standard of laundering meets with the company’s standards and those manufacturer procedures are followed
Coordinate with Guest Services to ensure efficiency of both bedroom letting and servicing

Handle guest queries, requests and complaints with tact, patience and courtesy

Assume weekend Manager on Duty-shifts as per policy and procedures



Requirements

Education

High school or equivalent education required; vocational training or bachelor’s degree in hospitality preferred

Experience

Several years of experience in overall housekeeping operation, a minimum of two years in a management position; previous experience in the Middle East and/or within Starwood Hotels & Resorts/Marriott International is a plus
