Job Description

Position Purpose:

Manage purchasing activities and supervise purchasing personnel.

Essential Functions:

•Plan, prioritize and execute purchasing strategy to maximize the leveraging opportunities presented by hotel size.
•Identify opportunities to standardize and consolidate products and services for the hotel, ensure implementation of standardized programs.
•Manage, lead and train associate.
•Manage supplier-partner relationships to ensure contract compliance.
•Forecasting levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels.
•Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality; liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
•Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them.
•Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided.
•Processing payments and invoices.
•Keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future.
•Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities.
•Giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth.
•Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives.
•Conduct quarterly supplier audits to ensure quality of goods delivered.
•Proactive support the StarVoice process ensuring action plans are established and followed up to address issues.
•Together with the Department Heads, take a leading role in positively representing the company with guests, reinforcing a customer focussed approach to Hotel operations at all times and harnessing Guest Experience Index (GEI) data.
•To support the increase in revenue and build customer loyalty(SPG through personal recognition, benefits and rewards.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
•Provide purchasing support to hotel operations associate as needed.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

•Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
•Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
•Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer, including, but not limited to, accounting programs, Microsoft Word and Excel.
•Math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
•Ability to negotiate and write contracts and agreements.



Requirements

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA or CPM preferred.

Experience

Minimum of ten years purchasing experience with emphasis on consolidated purchasing, including five years food and beverage purchasing.
