Within the midst of this incredible and fast emerging destination, towering 225 metres high in the exclusive area of West Bay stands a new dimension in luxury, InterContinental Doha The City; an icon of modern architecture had opened the doors for the guests on 19 February 2012 and had set the standard in modern upscale accommodation for business and leisure travellers. (176 residence, 360 rooms, 7 F&B outlets, one Events Centre).
At the moment we are looking for a Director of Sales & Marketing to join our energetic, enthusiastic and passionate team at InterContinental Doha The City.
This role reports directly to the General Manager of InterContinental Doha The City. Under the general guidance and supervision of the General Manager, and within the limits of established Corporate/Sales policies and procedures, oversees and directs all Sales and Marketing activities. Responsibilities include the development of short, medium and long term strategies; overseeing and the development and implementation of the sales and marketing plan; leading and developing the sales and marketing team. Responsibilities also require direct and routine interaction with regional IHG executives, owning company representatives and government authorities.    
The key responsibilities are:
· Develop annual and 3-year Sales and Marketing Plans
·  Produce and drive SMART Action Plans related to the Revenue Plan to ensure Revenue Plan objectives are achieved
·  Drive execution of 1 to 3 year strategic Sales & Marketing Plan which talks to the IHG wheel, hotel or destination, review performance, successes, analyze failures and adjust approach.
·  Support the execution of the brand hearted agenda, improve guest experience at the hotel level and build brand health to include positioning workshops, develop a greater understanding of the target and core customer for hotels/hotel residences/gold club
·  Coordinate all methods of maintaining and increasing business volume. This includes advertising, sales promotion, personal selling, publicity, community relations, special sales projects, etc.
· Create and implement special programs to achieve greater profitability through:
o   Increasing average rate
o   Increasing overall occupancy
o   Increasing business volume during off-peak periods
o   Increasing local Food & Beverage and Banquet Sales
·         Enhance the image of the hotel in the local community
·         Participate as an active member of the community through associations, memberships and other trade organizations
·   Review regularly activity reports of Sales and Marketing personnel to ensure targets and Sales objectives are being met
· Review regularly internal promotion pieces for visual effect and ensure they conform with brand standards 
· Organize and promote, in cooperation with the Food & Beverage Department special projects to stimulate Food & beverage sales within the community, including, but limited to, tournaments,  parties, gastronomic festivities, etc.
· Interact with individuals outside the hotel, including, but not limited to clients, Convention Bureaus, local Hotel Associations, Government Tourist offices, Airlines, Travel Agents, Tour Operators, competitors and other members of the local community
·  Investigate potential markets by:
Reviewing government statistics on visitors to the city/resort destination/country, analyzing competition's sales/promotion efforts, studying various reference, internal customer data and industry publications for sales leads, reviewing government statistics on visitors to the city/resort destination/country, Analyzing competition's sales/promotion efforts.
· Procure new and repeat business for the hotel by maintaining contact with Airlines, Travel Agencies, Commercial Houses, Private Clubs and Professional Associations within the community and neighboring markets
·  Review regularly the Public Relations activities to ensure high awareness of the hotel in the local and national media
·         Manage the development of new products and services 
·         Oversee the development of new marketing strategies
·         Conduct market research
·         Plan and lead / participate in targeted sales missions
·         Embed IHG Way of Sales and Marketing into team and ensure Sales team members are using Sales Standard Operating Procedures effectively.
·  Maintain good communication with Regional Sales and Marketing personnel and implement corporate initiatives

Human Resource Responsibilities
·  Works within the company's Human Resource Framework to ensure the departmental performance of team is productive. Duties include:
o   Planning for future staffing needs
o   Recruiting in line with company guidelines
o   Preparing detailed induction programmes for new team
o   Maintaining a comprehensive, current and guest focused set of departmental standards and procedures and oversees their implementation
o   Ensuring training needs analysis of Sales team is carried out and training programmes are designed and implemented to meet needs
o   Conducting probation and formal performance appraisal in line with company guidelines
o   Maintaining up to date team records and approving leave requests etc
o   Coaching, counseling and disciplining staff, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance
o   Regularly communicating with team to maintains good relations
o   Producing efficient work schedules
Financial Responsibilities
·  Works with Director of Finance in the preparation and management of the department's budget. Duties include:
o   Prepare and mange a cost effective budget with measurable targets for department within the financial parameters set down by the hotel budget
o   Effectively monitor and analyze variations from the budget
o   Develop systems that measure the cost effectiveness of the department
o   Prepare financial reports
o   Maintain remuneration scales in accordance with financial and marketing objectives
o   Develop procedures that track, report on, and control the running costs of the department

 Ideally, you will have some or all of the following qualifications and experience we're looking for: 
·   Bachelor's degree or equivalent International degree in Marketing, Business or Commerce.
·   Minimum 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in a Leading Director of Sales and Marketing role in international locations.
· Experience with multi-brands
