Job Summary

  Apply paint, stain and other finishes to property walls, ceilings, and furniture using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces for finish coats. Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting. Cover surfaces with appropriate material for protection during painting and post appropriate paint signs. Clean up and store paint and painting tools and equipment in appropriate areas. Coordinate with vendor in order to modify colors of paint, stain, or varnish.   Candidate Profile The experience, skills and knowledge and education/certification components of the Candidate Profile should be presented as preferences rather than requirements unless an individual would not be hired for the position without these.  Equivalent work experience may be substituted for years of experience.

Technical Expertise (Learning and Applying Personal Expertise) The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position: Safety and Security
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
  • Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.
  • Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc., including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
  • Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.

  • Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Painting/Carpentry
  • Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to property walls, ceilings, and furniture using brushes, spray guns, or rollers while maintaining property color scheme specifications.
  • Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
  • Remove old finishes by stripping, sanding, wire brushing, burning, or using water and/or abrasive blasting.
  • Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper for protection during painting and post appropriate paint signs.
  • Clean up and store paint and painting tools and equipment in appropriate areas.
  • Coordinate with vendor in order to modify colors of paint, stain, or varnish with oil, thinning, and drying additives in order to obtain desired colors and consistencies.
