  1. Job Purpose

To develop customer booking trends, control of the mix, the flow of business and control of Rooms inventory in order to maximize revenue opportunities and manage yield.To manage all Revenue and Reservations employees to provide efficient, superior service under the Resort Manager.

  1. Nature and Scope of Position

The scope of the position entails aiding the Resort Manager with the implementation of an effective Revenue Management Strategy in line with ensuring that the resort has adequate and accurate information regarding PMS-Guest History, Data and revenue information - Targets versus actual, Revenue Forecast and Actual Performance.The Position further requires competent understanding towards achieving goals related to Budgeting and ensuring Policies and Procedures are in place so that Reports on revenue/trends, recommendations, competitor Analysis and Audit Requirements are followed.

  1. Principle Accountabilities
  • Daily scrutinize all information related to data and revenue management and update month to date figures accordingly to the Resort Manager. 
  • Thorough analysis and commentary annotated on management reports generated by the PMS. 
  • Identification of potential problem areas as a result of the analysis of data reported to the Resort Manager.
  • Management of information takes into account competitor activity
  • Accurate forecasting and analysis of forecast versus actual performance of revenue
  • Prepare all data required for the preparations of budget.   
  • Make recommendations for budget purposes on average room rate; channel costs; market segmentation, guest types and total Rooms revenue.
  • Analyze Guest History; Channel bookings; rates for use in budgeting purposes.
  • Check on implementation and adherence to Group policies and procedures related to both Revenue Management and audit requirements. 
  • Track and review competitor pricing weekly and provide management with information relating to market pricing trends.
  • Daily monitor demand for the hotel and hotel node in relation to occupancy and price
  • Daily make recommendations for changes in rates arising from demand both hotel, hotel node and competitor activity.
  • Daily check that the correct rates are being applied per Guest Type by Reservations and Front Office.
  • Timeous corrective action taken where incorrect rates are being applied.
  • Update rates in the PMS as per Group approved Rates Meetings.
  • Recommendations for updating of rates in line with trends identified from tracking of rates within the node.
  • Meet up-selling targets.
  • Ensure Hotel occupancy maximized and targets met
  • Accommodation allowances kept to a minimum
  • Upgrades controlled.
  • Facilities, activities, special events promoted and communicated to guests. 
  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures.
  • Ensure Checklist requirements are met (arrivals, pre-payments, rates, status, history etc.)
  • Ensure guest history is utilized to allocate guests to relevant room types
  • The PMS system is used to control room-type over bookings
  • Monitor group contracts, rooming lists and details
  • Group wash cut- off dates are adhered to
  • Waitlists are used and implemented
  • Daily communication with Central Reservations i.e. room availability, rate loading and room inventory
