Job Description

 

General Duties

  • To be responsible for the supervision and coordination of the housekeeping attendants by ensuring that services are available and carried out with the utmost efficiency.
  • To study and evaluate the operation of the Housekeeping Department, and suggest improvements to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To assign duties and responsibilities to subordinates.
  • To check the store rooms, service rooms and areas to ensure the smooth flow of the Guest supplies.
  • To interact with individuals outside the hotel, such as suppliers, contractors, labour relations representations and competitors, source alternative more cost effective suppliers and advise Executive Housekeeper accordingly.
  • To maintain a record of all “rota” cleaning work i.e. window cleaning, carpet shampooing, drapery cleaning, and deep cleanings.
  • To follow-up on all maintenance requests to ensure timely completion.
  • To ensure correct distribution and control of master keys.
  • To check the pantry and service rooms and areas to ensure the smooth flow of the Guest supplies and linen.
  • To take note of arriving VIP’s and ensure rooms meet the Gloria Standards for cleanliness, maintenance and amenity set up..
  • To ensure that all equipment is well maintained and handled correctly.
  • To ensure that all staff are correctly trained in machinery handling.
  • To handle guest complaints in accordance with the hotel policy, reporting all complaints to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To check the Logbooks and follow up on outstanding matters.
  • To assist in taking various inventories.
  • To ensure that all employees report for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and nametag at all times.
  • To assist in the building of an efficient team of employees by taking an active interest in their welfare, safety and development.
  • To ensure that all employees provide a courteous and professional service at all times.
  • To assist in the training of the employees ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform duties with the maximum efficiency.
  • To supervise the employees within the department ensuring that the correct standards and methods of service are maintained.
  • To ensure that all activities are adhered to and support the Gloria Quality Management System.
  • To assist the Assistant Executive House Housekeeper in taking responsibility for the department and colleagues in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.
  • To liaise and co-operate with other departments to ensure requirements and standards are achieved.
  • To ensure that clear Standard Operating Procedures are developed, communicated, updated and implemented.
  • To support and implement decisions of upper management.
  • To ensure flowers and plants in guest rooms and passages are fresh, clean and well maintained.
