Job brief

We are looking for a creative Assistant Bar Manager with pleasant personality to plan, direct and oversee all bar operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met and implementing and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency.


  • Manages the Beverage team to include efficient staffing, employee development and training, performance management and policy enforcement
  • Assists in monitoring inventory and inventory controls to ensure that costs are kept to a minimum without losing quality and usage of materials
  • Create standard bar set ups in all outlets to maximize the efficiency of each bar operation
  • Constantly identify areas for improvement in service and food and beverage quality
  • Ensure beverage descriptions (beverage guide) and the Bar menu descriptions are up to date and distributed appropriately
  • Report and liaise regularly with General Manager and Resident Manager regarding departmental performance and ensure they are informed of any relevant information or issues
  • Liaise with human resources department with regards to recruitment needs, training analysis and delivery and employee relations
  • Perform a duty manager role while on shift when required, taking sole duty management responsibilities for the Hotel and dealing with any issues that may arise during shift


  • Must be available to start immediately
  • Must have extensive bartending and sommelier experience with a minimum of 3 years experience in a high volume Hotel or Resort in a similar capacity
  • Previous experience with managing employees of different cultures and nationalities is an added preference
  • Culinary school diploma or degree in food service management or related fiel
  • Preferably European Nationalities
  • Able to work and cope with the Caribbean lifestyle and challenges
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
  • Mastery in delegating multiple tasks
  • Guest-oriented and service-minded
  • To promote a positive attitude and team ethos, including ‘lead by example’, for the department, setting the pace and standards and encouraging mutual respect
  • Pro-active in problem solving and work on own initiative to deal with problems and opportunities
  • Inspire & motivate the team to achieve 5* standards through our Standard Operating Procedures and therefore achieve sales and profits
