About the role

An exciting role has arisen in the Food & Beverage department at Madinat Jumeirah Resort for a highly motivated and hard working individual.

Being a Tequilero should have a thorough knowledge of Tequilas, Mezcales and Sotol, fashion to sell tequilas and create memorable dining experiences. The Tequilier trains all the service employees of the restaurant on Tequila knowledge and service. The Tequilier should be at all times a team player, enthusiastic, cheerful bringing across the most positive attitude towards the colleagues and the hotel guests. To achieve and maintain a high level of customer service.  To ensure stock levels are maintained, that the bar is properly set before service and that high levels of cleanliness are maintained. To comply with local licensing laws and to promote responsible service of alcohol. To understand and be responsible for cashing up procedures. To be abreast of local and international bar trends and new products. 

Your key duties will include the following:

 

  • Ensure a consistency of high standard is maintained in the restaurant cellar organisation, the stocks,  product lists, knowledge and the service in the restaurant

  • Ensure standards mentioned below are known and respected by all restaurant and bar employees

  • Delivers best in class drinks service to specification consistently
  • Has impeccable knowledge of all products in the portfolio and can make all drinks as per the brand standard. Has a good knowledge of all beverages beyond those stocked in the restaurant and has a working knowledge of classic cocktails and drinks

  • Is a dedicated trainer

  • To understand and comply with all local licensing laws and to promote responsible service of alcohol

  • Assists the OM/AOM in managing stock, ordering, returns and stocktakes. Can receive and log all deliveries

    • Has trained and fully complies with all H&S standards

    • Maintains high levels of cleanliness in the working environment and ensures that daily cleaning rota's are adhered to

    • Has a full understanding of the brand concept, history and vision and can explain when asked

    • Understands and will assist with the Brand audit and will implement any actions required

    • Ensures that problems are brought to Outlet Manager’s attention immediately

    • To lead by example with excellent customer service. To always aim to exceed expectation

    • Actively looks for ways in which they can develop their career

    • Is able to work as part of a team and contribute ideas where necessary

    • Takes responsibility for and completes own probationary and appraisal paper work as required

    • Attends and asks to attend all training as required by the business

    • Actively engages with colleagues and customers at all times

    • Communicates to managers any issues immediately

    • Handles minor guest complains
    About You

    In order to be considered for this role, you will have a detailed Food and Beverages knowledge (within a Quality  Luxury Brand) and will possess a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Tequilier or Mixologist. Or worked or interned in a leading luxury 5 star hotel / brand for at least 2 years. You should be certified in Wines, Spirits and Alcoholic beverages (WSET Level 2 or international equivalent). having an extensive knowledge in beverages, you should have proven track record in training and developing staff. Preferably Mexican or South American national.

    You will have excellent communication skills, time management and organizational skills, as well as the capability to multitask and strong attention to detail. You will also be a team player with experience in Mexican or Latin American concept required with Mexican spirit and beverage knowledge. Your interpersonal and customer service ability will be excellent.

    Proficiency in computer software systems such as MS Office and Opera is essential as are excellent communication skills in written and spoken English & Spanish is essential.
