The  Assistant Director of Engineering  leads the Engineering team with maintenance for the entire hotel facility, including the physical building structure, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment in accordance with energy conservation and preventative maintenance programs.  

Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the physical structures of the hotel, convention meeting space, guest areas and heart of the house areas.  Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and coaching department associates and follow prescribed safety procedures for team members and equipment by hotel standards and local regulations.

A strong accent has to be given as well to preventive maintenance and relevant programs. To maintain our standards of quality and service and facilities in all departments over which he/she has responsibility and authority. He/she is responsible for the overall smooth, efficient and economical running of the entire Engineering department. 

Assist the Maintenance and Management in planning for the investment, project and replacement budget on a yearly basis.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

REPAIR & MAINTENANCE

1.1.1 For all work executed, by own or external craftsmen, on the building, plants or technical installations he/she takes the responsibility.
1.1.2 For emerging problems of bigger issue he/she consults a specialist, discusses the problem with the Director of Engineering and records the taken decisions or procedures.
1.1.3 Implements all necessary work procedures for preventive maintenance, initiates respective scheduled procedures and monitors carrying out of work as well as recording the results within appropriate filing system.
1.1.4 Accordingly provides the sufficient and reasonable supply of spare parts on time.
1.1.5 Determines for repair work the priorities and takes care for the quick removing of all breakdowns. Does not accept work which is not executed in a competent manner. Passes invoices for payment only when the execution of the work is done as preliminary agreed and to full satisfaction.
1.1.6 In case of disputes, involves the Director of Engineering for a decision.
1.1.7 He/she is responsible for the storing of spare parts. Registers all incoming and outgoing items.
1.1.8 Works out a concept of a yearly preventive maintenance program.

ADMINISTRATION

1.1.9 Establishes a monthly report of works carried out, machines maintained, special events, consumption of energy and water, etc. to the Director of Engineering, Hotel Manager  & or  the General Manager
1.1.10 Controls and endorses all invoices for installations, tools spare parts and consumption of material and forwards them for payment to the accounting
1.1.11 Initiates, executes and/or monitors training of his/her staff for engineering matters.
1.1.12 Assists and co-ordinates together with the Director of Engineering proper Fire & Safety training for all staff of the hotel.
1.1.13 Files and monitors all maintenance contracts and consults/advises the Director of Engineering & General Manager and / or Hotel Manager when needed.
1.1.14 Is aware of and informs about all agreements with local authorities, insurance companies, external firms, contractors and suppliers, controls their work and invoices.

General/ Miscelleneous

1.1.15 Ensures all staff is thoroughly familiar with the hotel’s emergency procedures and in a state of preparedness for any emergency which may occur.

1.1.16 Execution of regular technical/skills training. Is responsible for setting up and maintaining ongoing training programs in the Engineering division in conjunction with the  HR Manager & the Training Manager.
1.1.17 Initiates Fire Fighting Training in co-ordination with the Security Manager and the local authorities (Fire Brigade) on a regular basis for all Hotel departments.
1.1.18 Maintains a monthly overview of vacation- and public holiday balance of all his/her staff and delivers a monthly consolidated summary to the  HR Manager.
1.1.19 Is familiar with all related company documentation and especially with the relevant Operational Standards Manual for his/her field of responsibility.
1.1.20 Other duties as assigned.
1.1.21 Assist in Task Force Teams for new openings.
