Ras Nungwi, a leading 4 star, 32 room hotel in Zanzibar requires an Assistant General Manager to oversee all management functions of the hotel, reporting to the Managing Director. Please see www.rasnungwi.com 

About the job:

  • Assisting the Managing Director in leading the management team by giving clear guidance and directions as per the company’s strategy
  • Keeping the Managing Director fully informed of all relevant information at all times
  • Ensuring that all services are delivered according to company standards resulting in excellent guest experiences
  • Ensuring the hotel maximizes profitability
  • Maintaining excellent guest and staff relationships
  • Host key clients and possess excellent public relations skills within the market
  • Manage effective staff relations ensuring team motivation initiatives are constantly reviewed for improvement

What we require:

  • A motivated, self-driven and energetic candidate 
  • Knowledgeable with proven achievements in key hotel operations, including rooms division and F&B
  • Extensive knowledge of the hotel and travel industry
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years management experience within a 4 or 5 star hotel environment
  • A hotel management diploma or degree from an internationally recognized institution
  • Fluency in English essential. Other European languages and Kiswahili are beneficial
  • Competent administrative, financial and IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of hotel property management systems
  • Excellent track record with contactable references
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
  • African working experience advantageous
