Director, Revenue Management

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Regional Director, Sales and Marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service

  • Manage demand, forecasting and inventory as it relates to driving revenue opportunity for the hotel

  • Maximize room revenues through a thorough understanding of all booking channels, managing inventory and rate accordingly

  • Monitor transient and group booking pace in order to determine pricing and availability controls for all reservation distribution sources

  • Monitor key indicators of hotel performance and third party intelligence sources to identify revenue opportunities

  • Liaise with Reservations, Front Office and Sales to ensure the highest level of Guest service is maintained while maximizing profit

  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation of analytical reports

  • Play an active role in the strategic plan, marketing plan and budgeting processes

  • Stay current with industry changes and how it may impact demand

  • Prepare and present weekly analytical reports

  • Follow departmental policies and procedures

  • Maximize hotel RevPAR through a thorough understanding of all booking channels and management of inventory and rate therein
  • Continuously analyze changing channel distribution models and the impact on consumer booking trends

  • Produce and analyze current and historical demand including lost business turndown, rooms on the books, competitive set and market trends to aid in more accurate forecasting

  • Liaise with Group and Business Sales Managers, Reservations and Front Office to ensure yield and revenue management principles are understood and followed

  • Operationalize hotel and corporate pricing strategies through definition and management of rate levels, stay restrictions and other tactics, which are congruent with demand factors and which are managed through all distribution channels

  • With rate integrity a cornerstone of our pricing strategy, maintain rates which promote integrity and which protect the order of long term customer value

  • Work with Director of Sales and Marketing & Director of Communications to determine effective and engaging rate offers (packages) which are then offered in to the right customer in the right channel

  • Monitor transient, group and tour booking pace in order to determine pricing and availability controls for all reservation distribution sources

  • Discuss changes to, and implements those changes in distribution plan accordingly

  • Develop fundamentals and provide guidelines to maximize revenues related to the sale of catering events, function space and all other revenue streams at the hotel

  • Complete all rooms and revenue forecasting to accurately project unconstrained demand using Demand Analysis Strategy (DAS)

  • Work with Director of Sales and Marketing and Sales Team members to encourage strategic selection of the right piece of business

  • Track and analyze competitive set pricing and yield strategies, gain the ability to predict the comp set reaction to changes in the marketplace

  • Conduct regular audits of GDS, SellWeb, MFR, Hotel Internet Site, IMM and ODD sites to ensure accuracy in hotel information, rates, packages and availability

  • Play an active role in the Strategic Planning, Marketing Plan and budgeting processes

  • Chair and prepare materials for the weekly Revenue Management Meetings and follow the Fairmont guidelines for meeting content

  • Prepare timely revenue summaries as required by the RM Team

  • Provide guided learning so that all areas of the hotel that impact revenue are fully aware of the hotel RM strategies and understand their role in the plan

  • Adhere to all Fairmont Environmental and Health & Safety policies and procedures

  • Provide training to Reservations and Front Desk Colleagues on upselling and negotiating techniques

  • Provide a professional image at all times through appearance and dress

  • Follow company policies and procedures

 

Qualifications:

  • University/College degree in a related discipline required
  • Must be extremely detailed oriented

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required

  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities

  • Highly responsible & reliable

  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times

  • Strategic thinking combined with the proven ability to move strategy to action are foremost attributes

  • Proven experience in analysis and problem solving required

  • Team building skills and proven track record is essential

  • Self study and independent work ethics are required

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time constraints is key to the success of this individual

  • Strong experience or adaptable training in the use of automated systems, PCs and office products, e.g. Excel, Word

  • Knowledge of Fairmont PMS and Sales software an asset

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as Sales Manager or 3 years experience as Front Office or Reservations Manager, or 2 years experience in a related area
